'A key ingredient - the added value of sustainable sourcing'.
The next meeting will be held on 17 November at 2pm – 3.30pm Committee Room 16,
House of commons.
Please note that this meeting will be held in Committee Room 16 in main building
of the commons and not the Grimmond Room in Portcullis House as prevously
announced.
Speakers will address sourcing issues relating to a range of key food and drink
commodities (dairy, palm oil, sugar, coffee, cocoa, tea etc).
Unilever, Kraft, Global Issues Group and WWF are on the panel. Each will give a
short presentation before the meeting is opened out to a Q&A session -
which
aims to develop a balanced and informed debate.
This session will provide Parliamentarians with the opportunity to:
- Learn about the efforts the industry is making to ensure that sourcing is
sustainable.
- Discuss how food and drink manufacturers are integrating sustainable sourcing
into their business.
- Assess the commercial constraints to sustainable sourcing in the current global
commodities market.
- Inform Parliamentarians about how food and drink manufacturers source raw
materials across their product ranges.
- Discuss future challenges and pressures on sustainable supply chains.
- Highlight the positive impact sustainable sourcing has made on origin countries.
